A NEW MILESTONE MARKING THE CREATION OF A SYMBOL OF MEKONG RIVER TOURISM
On November 14, 2025, Focus Travel Group officially held the keel-laying ceremony for the Mekong Romance cruise ship — a historic ritual in shipbuilding and a significant milestone marking the company’s next step in developing high-end tourism products in the Mekong Delta.
In maritime tradition, the laying of the keel — the “backbone” of a vessel — symbolizes the transition from the design phase to the construction phase. The ceremony was conducted solemnly with the participation of the shipbuilding unit and technical partners at SSIC (HCMC).
The Mekong Romance project is being fully designed and newly built in Vietnam, featuring 32 luxury cabins, each standard cabin offering a minimum area of 30 m², a private balcony, and an infinity pool — one of the rare amenities available on Mekong River cruises.
The ship will also be equipped with a solar power system and a new-generation engine that meets IMO II emission standards, helping reduce emissions by around 20% and protecting the river’s ecosystem.
The project is positioned as a strategic product of Focus Travel, aiming to create a new icon of river tourism — one that embodies the cultural identity of Vietnam’s Southwest region while meeting international standards. The launch of the Mekong Romance brand not only reflects the company’s ambition to expand its tourism ecosystem but also demonstrates its commitment to sustainable tourism development.
Once completed and put into operation, Mekong Romance is expected to become an impressive highlight contributing to the promotion of the Mekong Delta’s beauty and reinforcing Focus Travel’s position as a pioneering company creating high-end tourism products deeply rooted in cultural identity.
